2021 FESTIVAL INFORMATION

For the 2021 Marrowstone Music Festival we will bring to Seattle the same level of rigor, intensity, and excellent music-making that always happens at the festival.

The two-week program will be an in-person, non-residential festival right here in Seattle. It will include full orchestra rehearsals led by SYSO Music Director Juan Felipe Molano and sectionals coached by high caliber professional musicians. Our artist-faculty are among some of the finest musicians in Seattle, hailing from the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Opera, local universities, and more.

Our artist-faculty will also provide masterclasses throughout the Festival, providing opportunities for direct feedback for participating students. For students interested in chamber music, an optional chamber program can be added to the experience. The Festival will culminate with final orchestra performances accompanied by a special guest soloist and a chamber recital right here in Seattle.

SYSO will be abiding by all Washington State COVID regulations to ensure student, faculty, and staff safety.

Health & Safety:

SYSO will follow all the appropriate COVID protocols and has been in contact with the Washington State Department of Health for specific guidance. If King County is in Phase 2 or Phase 3 this means SYSO will maintain social distancing of 6 feet for string and percussion players and 9 feet for brass and woodwinds. Based on the facility capacity, Marrowstone can accommodate approximately two orchestras of 40-45 members each. Detailed COVID protocols and procedures will be provided to all participants.

If you have any questions or inquiries for the 2021 Festival please contact Marrowstone Operations Manager, Evan Berge at evan.berge@syso.org.
